Affordable worn “Baby” Woolly Mammoth Tooth from Alaska

This is an affordable genuine “baby” Woolly Mammoth tooth in worn condition from Alaska, legally recovered and meticulously prepared by our Paleo Buddies.

As glaciers and frozen tundra are melting and retreating finds like this are possible. This tooth has been cleaned and stabilized to prevent any further damage or decay. It is 5 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches wide. It exhibits outstanding enamel and color. It comes mounted on this custom made black block for a dramatic presentation. This would make a great cabinet piece or mantle piece and a highlight for any fossil mammal collection.

Mammoths and Mastodons were closely related. Both were herbivores and ate plant material. A mammoth generally went through 5 sets of molars. during their life time. When the last set was too worn they would not be able to eat and would die. The fifth and final set were about 12 inches long. The molars grew larger with each replacement. Mammoths unlike Mastodons were grass eaters, grazers where as Mastodons ate bushes and branches. Mammoths chewed their food from side to side and back and forth as Mastodons chewed up and down. Mammoth teeth were relatively flat with ridges and Mastodon teeth were peaked.

This is an exceptional Mammoth tooth and exhibits very fine detail in the root and enamel.
