Because the area around Utah is well known for the fossils it has become a very popular place to dig for fossils. But not all fossils from this location are as detailed as this. The original lake was over 900 square miles but only several Buttes are still producing such wonderful specimens. Because of type of rock and the preservation nearly all the fossils from this location have great detail.
