Description
This is a Devonian Trilobite common to New York, Canada and some parts of Michigan. It is a Greenops and this one is an outstanding example of this species.
This is a well preserved trilobite and an excellent example of this species. The location where they come from is well known. Because the rock is so hard the trilobites are preserved in great detail. The detail in this trilobite is amazing.
This Exceptional Baby Greenops Trilobite was found in Canada. And it is excellently prepared with air abrasive technology. It is fully inflated with especially detailed head section. The Trilobite is exceptionally thick and exhibits outstanding detail in all body sections. This is a prone trilobite in life position. There are several trilobites found in this deposit. Because of the exceptional preservation each detail of the trilobite can clearly be seen.
Parts of Michigan, Ontario and New York display Devonian rocks. Because that part of this area was once the bottom of a shallow salt water sea, fossil trilobites can be found. This Exceptional Fossil Trilobite is slightly curled and was buried in soft mud that preserved it quickly. Because it was buried quickly, scavengers were not able to eat or tear it apart. The rocks of the Devonian formations are very hard but the rock can be removed by air tools. .
This Baby Greenops Trilobite is very showy on the head and especially the genal spines. It is 11/16 inches long and sits on an irregular matrix that is 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. Because it is enhanced by the expert “landscaping” of the rock matrix the trilobite has a very dramatic pose and appearance.
