This is a very detailed positive March Fly. The fly exhibits very fine detail in the wings, legs, and has a very thick body.
Actually there are two, but one is very faint.
It is 4mm long and is in top view with lacy wings outstretched. It rests on one piece of irregular matrix – 55 mm x 45 mm
The March Fly is in the order diptera. These are stout bodied flies with large eyes.
Insects are quite rare in the fossil record. They are generally small and easily overlooked during collection. These are small but very detailed.
