This trilobite is a wonderful quality fossil. This is an great trilobite that has superb detail. It has a very thick shell. Please look closely at the beautiful detail.

Here is a quite common but very desirable Cambrian Ptychagnostus Trilobite Trilobite from the Cambrian Period, the “Age of Trilobites.”  They lived, thrived, and became extinct Millions of years before the age of dinosaurs!  Trilobites spanned a time that  covered 5 geological periods spanning over 300 million years of Earth’s history.

The Cambrian Ptychagnostus Trilobite is 1/4  Inches long on an irregular piece of matrix 1 1/4  by 2 1/4 inches. The body is very thick and detailed beautifully.  These trilobites had the usual three body parts. They are the head, body and tail. But the body had only two body segments. The head and the tail of the Cambrian Ptychagnostus Trilobite were nearly the same size so it is difficult to see which is which..

The Cambrian Period was known as the age of trilobites. They were very common and because they were so common many can be found. They are found in the deserts of Utah so finding them is very easy. The shale they are found in is very soft and because of that they are easy to dig up. Most of the fossils are found in Delta, Utah because during the Cambrian Period Utah was the bottom of a shallow sea so many animals lived there. There are many other fossil animals found there but the trilobites are the most common and desired. There have other trilobite species found in the same location. It is a very rich area with a wide variety of fossils.

The trilobites is 3/8  Inches long on an irregular piece of matrix 1 1/4  by 2 1/4 inches. It is superbly inflated and detailed exquisitely.

It comes in this handsome 6 x 8 inch glass-topped leatherette collectors case.
