Description
This is a Top Quality Cave Bear Molar Fossil tooth. But this tooth also has a small piece of the jaw section. These Late Pleistocene animals were quite common in the mountain caves of Central Europe and Russia.
You can now own a rare and wonderful tooth from an ancient super predator from the last Ice Age.
There is no Repair or Restoration on this Cave Bear Molar Fossil Tooth from an URSUS spelaeus. This extinct animal was much larger than the modern day bears but they were still exceptional hunters. This tooth was found in 1999 in a cave in the mountains of Rumania. Because these animals lived in caves many remains are found. Also because the teeth and tooth enamel is so hard and dense, they preserve beautifully.
When the animals died in caves, most of the body would decompose including the skull. But due to the density, enamel and hardness of the teeth they would remain essentially unaltered. Over the years sediment would cover the site, ceiling fragments of the cave would collapse and dust would blow in burying the remains. This Fossil Cave Bear Molar is one that remained in the cave until discovery with many others.
These teeth were purchased by a museum development company that I was associated with that was constructing an Ice Age exhibit. But these items were excess to the exhibit. Because the company then closed I was able to purchase these magnificent teeth. They can now be offered to the public.
This is your opportunity to own these exceptional fossils. This Cave Bear Molar Fossil Tooth is 2.7 inches long to the bottom of the jaw section and the preservation and enamel is outstanding. But also it comes in this black leatherette display case..
