Description
This is a section of a Cretaceous Dinosaur Fossil Bone Fragment.
This one was found during field expeditions in the early 200’s. This was surface collected ad as it was unassociated it was able to be legally kept. This end piece is from Hardin County, South Dakota. It is stable and is 4 3/4 inches tall 4 inches by 3 1/4 inches wide.
The Cretaceous Genuine Dinosaur Long Bone End comes from a bone collected legally on a ranch within the Badlands of South Dakota. Because the badlands have little vegetation, when it rains, the rains wash away sediment. So when prospecting bone fragments as well as turtle shell, fish scales and other fossils are exposed. This fragment is a piece of Genuine Dinosaur Bone from the Cretaceous Period. There are many bone fragments found while prospecting. When the bone is exposed to the elements it begins to decay. Because this decay is rapid, a dinosaur bone may fall into dust in just a few years. Because bones sometimes tumble downhill they sometimes reveal a possible dinosaur bone bed.
The Fossil Bone End Fragment is most likely from a Hadrosaur or Duck Billed Dinosaur. This fragment is one that was broken off the main long bone. It is often the case that bones are torn apart. But this is not uncommon as meat eaters and scavengers tear their prey apart. But also the weathering of bones contributes to their fracturing and only finding pieces rather than an entire bone.
