This Fossil Dig experience is great for children to sharpen their skills for looking for fossils. Each kit contains sediment from North Carolina and kids may find one to several small shark teeth.
This Fossil Dig Kit was designed to bring fun and enjoyment to children wanting to find fossils on their own. Dug from fossil rich sediments in North Carolina, it is full of Miocene mini fossils. Because of the nature of the bags, it is not guaranteed to find a shark tooth. These kits were made up by digging large areas of fossil rich sediment and putting it in sealed bags. Because nothing was added or taken out it is the luck of the draw. But it is loads of fun digging through it.
It is recommended that the youth dump the Fossil Dig Kit on to a paper plate or some other surface so they can push the dirt around with a tooth pic or small brush and search for fossils.
This is a great activity for homeschool groups and elementary school students. And an identification sheet is provided to help the students ID the fossils they find. Each bag contains roughly 5 ounces of searchable material.
And pictured is a 5 by 6 frame (not included) that contains fossils found in 2 bags that we randomly searched for fossils. So for a fun time for your future paleontologist this makes a great gift. And it also works for birthday parties.
