Description
From the Collection of Roger Furze
This is an exceptional gastropod fossil from a German Collection recently acquired.
This is a Fossil Gastropod Block from France. It comes from a collection that has spectacularly preserved museum quality specimens. This one is from the area of Champaign- Ardennes, France. It is a Sigmesalia intermedia. And this specimen comes not only with a specimen label card but also an 8 1/2 by 11 inch complete description of the location data. But that is not all, it also has collection data, who found it and much more information. The second picture in the gallery is but an example of the data sheets provided with each specimen.
This specimen is 1 inch long on a matrix covered in spectacularly preserved, detailed additional fossils. And the Fossil Gastropod Block is extremely thick and well preserved. But it also displays exceptional detail and preservation. Because the card and associated data sheet are in German, they may be difficult to read but google translator can help with the translations.
but translations aside, the data sheet is complete and very detailed. It is an exceptional piece so would look great in any Mollusk collection and short of traveling to Germany I would dare say not available anywhere.
