Fossil Plane-tree Leaf from the Eocene in the Green River Formation

An example of the prehistoric fossil found with the famous location in Southwestern Wyoming.

This is an example of an Affordable Fossil Plane-Tree Leaf from the Eocene Period. It is a Platanacea sp. leaf.

It is preserved on a roughly irregular matrix 6 inches by 4 inches. Specimen in the picture is the specimen you will receive.

This 4 3/8 inch Fossil leaf from a tree that grew in the area of Wyoming approximately 50 million years ago. The measurement included the stem. But the stem extends into the leaf forming the main vein of the leaf.

Here is a chance to get Nice Fossil tree leaf for someone who collects fossil flora. But it can also be as a gift for that someone special or yourself. This Leaf has not been retouched, painted, enhanced in any way. Because this is the way they look when they come out of the ground, they present very well.  Sometimes a little cleaning is all that is necessary. Because these are exceptionally detailed leaves they sometimes show the veins. But this one also has a short stem attached as well.

Because the area around Kemmerer is well known for the fossil fish it has become a very popular place to dig for fossils. But not all fossils from this location are fish. Nearly everything in that ecosystem can be found at some point while digging in various parts of the formation. The original lake was over 900 square miles but only several Buttes are still producing such wonderful specimens. Because of type of rock and the preservation nearly all the fossils from this location have great detail.
