Here is an excellent Detailed Juvenile Fossil Mammoth Fossil that was found in the North Sea during drag fishing operations.  Because this area was once a lush tundra area. And the melting glaciers started and sea level rose with the area now under water. These animals were alive until around 12,000 years ago when they finally vanished in the North Sea area. Some people believe it was due to over hunting of the animals. The Woolly Mammoths were close relatives of the the Elephants today so they appear very similar. The Fossil Mammoth Tooth looks much the same as modern Elephants. Their size was also relatively larger. They ate the grasses of the tundra and were believed to be migratory. Because they moved around quite a bit as they can be found in various parts of Alaska and Russia. Some remains have also been found at the bottom of the North Sea and Baltic. Because during the Ice Age, sea levels were much lower the Baltic and North Sea were dry land.

This Tooth has exceptional enamel. The root is there and in great condition. The crown of the tooth is also very well defined so you can see the individual ridges of the tooth.

This Detailed Juvenile Fossil Mammoth Molar Tooth was recently found and prepared. The tooth has been preserved and sealed with special liquids used to preserve fossils.
