FLEXICALYMENE Trilobites from Ohio are quite common however this size of trilobite is fairly rare. This is a FLEXICALYMENE from Monroe, Ohio.
A classic trilobite from the famous Ordovician Deposits of Ohio. This is the most common trilobite species to be found whole in many parts of Ohio especially near Cincinnati. They are most often found enrolled (in a ball) but are sometimes found fully or partially stretched out. This one is enrolled but it is slightly flattened, not a perfect enrolled ball.
An Iconic trilobite that is well known in the trilobite community. These “bugs” are in spectacular condition with thick exoskeletons enabling such great preservation.
Here is a great example of the trilobites coming from this classic and well known site. The FLEXICALYMENE trilobites from Southern Ohio and Indiana as well as into Kentucky exhibit outstanding detail. They normally are preserved with a rich brownish color on a dark gray or gray matrix. Many from this site are also preserved with outstanding inflated carapaces that make these trilobites very showy.
