The Orthoceras, or “straight horn” is an extinct cephlapod from the Ordovican Period, around 400 million years ago.  These straight shelled nautiloids ranged in size from less than a centimeter to more than 14 feet long.  It is believed that like current day nautiloids such as squid and octopus, the Orthoceras was a predator, possibly eating little trilobites for a snack.

This Orthoceras has a hole drilled and is ready to be added to your necklace collection.  Each Orthoceras is different and exhibits unique structures.  This item measures 3 inches long by .75 inches wide.

This is the item you will receive.
