The Orthoceras, or “straight horn” is an extinct cephlapod from the Ordovican Period, around 400 million years ago.  These straight shelled nautiloids ranged in size from less than a centimeter to more than 14 feet long.  It is believed that like current day nautiloids such as squid and octopus, the Orthoceras was a predator, possibly eating little trilobites for a snack.

This Orthoceras has a hole drilled and is ready to be added to your necklace collection.  Each Orthoceras is different and exhibits unique structures.  This item measures 3.5 inches long by .65 inches wide.

This is the item you will receive.
