Description
This is a rare partial Radnoria bretti from the deposits of the Rochester Shale of New York. Unfortunately the counterpart was not saved. The counterpart contained the missing pieces.
This was recovered from the Middleport Quarry several years ago. And because they are rare it is being offered as a filler to someone’s collection until a better one comes along.
This Radnoria Partial Trilobite was recovered but not the counterpart. Because the counterpart was not recovered the trilobite could not be re-assembled to be fully intact. But when collecting it is essential to collect both sides because they can be glued back together and prepared completely. The Radnoria is a small trilobite and a rare species coming from the quarry. These are highly sought after by Rochester Shale collectors and species collectors.
The Rochester shale was formed in parts of New York state when New York was a shallow salt water tropical sea some 400 million years ago. The area was buried by a slurry of mud and sediment so the fossils were beautifully preserved n shale.
This Radnoria Partial Trilobite is missing part of the head section but the rest exhibits great detail. This trilobite is 3/8 inch long on a grey matrix 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 of an inch wide.
