Description

Here is your chance to own a classic fossil from a classic site. A nice showy piece as well. It is a Rare Radnoria bretti
Harder and Harder to obtain fossils from this private quarry in Middleport, New York

Classic trilobite from the famous Rochester Shale Silurian Deposits of New York. Because they are becoming extremely rare from this site they are highly sought after.

Unfortunately trilobites such as these Rare Radnoria bretti trilobites are becoming more rare and harder to find because this quarry is beginning to play out. But these were recently prepared in our prep lab from a decades old stack of unprepared fossils from the Middleport Quarry.

Here is a great example of the trilobites coming from this classic and well known site. The Rare Radnoria bretti trilobite from this location exhibit outstanding detail. They normally are preserved with a rich black color and lie on a dark gray or gray matrix. Many from this site are also preserved with outstanding inflated shells that make these trilobites very showy.

These trilobites are generally found in the south wall of the quarry. Because the south wall was an area with many bryozoan colonies, the trilobite had places to hide.

The Rare Radnoria bretti  trilobite is 7/16 inches long. It sits on a gray matrix 1 3/4 by 1 3/4 inches.

Classic trilobite from a classic site.
