Description

This tooth is massive and thick from a meat eating Spinosaurus Dinosaur.  This is a 2 5/8 inch Fossil “Spitter” Meat eating Dinosaur Tooth. This is from a real Spinosaurus dinosaur from the Fossil Beds of Morocco.

This was found in the Kem Kem beds in an ancient riverbed. It shows wear but also seems to have weathered a bit. But it is also missing part of the tip of the tooth that broke during recovery. It has the tell-tale lines on the tooth that identify it as a Spinosaurus.

This Fossil Robust Spinosaurus Tooth is large and exceptionally detailed. It comes from an area of Morocco well known to produce wonderful fossil specimens. Because this tooth shows where it broke off at the base, it is considered a “spitter” tooth. It also has part of the tip missing.

The dinosaur was a meat  eater. Because they ate meat sometimes the teeth would hit a bone and break off. Because of this they needed teeth that would constantly regrow. This is a “Spitter” a tooth that has fallen out of the mouth. Because these teeth grew very quickly they would often lose them. Because this fossil Dinosaur Tooth was not found with an associated skeleton it is considered a lost tooth. In this case a “Spitter”. A fully rooted tooth indicates the dinosaur died and the tooth fell out. Because the skull is made of lightweight bones it usually rots away leaving only the teeth.

The Robust Spinosaurus Tooth was found in a specific area where many teeth were found, it is considered a feeding area. Often when one tooth is found many, many others are there as well. There were many bones of plant eating dinosaurs also found scattered about. It was found in the Kem Kem Formation of Morocco. This area of the world is well known for many dinosaur species. Because it was a meat eater it is assumed they hunted and killed weak or injured plant eaters.
