Description
A wonderful conversation piece for those who entertain friends and family and also is certainly a stunning piece of natural artwork.
I have some of my fossils made into Charcuterie Boards and art pieces for those who wish to have something unique. And I dare say no one else made any of these. These one of a kind pieces look great and are now available.
This Unique Fossil Charcuterie Board is made of wood and real fossils covered in acrylic. But these ARE NOT DISHWASHER SAFE and ARE NOT TO BE CUT ON. Because they are acrylic they must be handled with care. They are easily cleaned with mild soap and water.
Here is an amazingly well preserved Pennsylvanian Fossil Fern pair. Alethopteris is a prehistoric plant genus of fossil seed fern that developed in the Carboniferous period around 360 to 300 million years ago. It is from the famous coal mining areas of Pennsylvania. And there are several species of Ferns found in the fossil floral record.
The Carboniferous Period of Pennsylvania was mostly a hot steamy jungle and swamps. Because the plants and animals are buried in sediment without much Oxygen they started to fossilize. These are from a now closed site.
The Pennsylvanian Fossil Fern Charcuterie Board exhibits fossils found within the sediments of discarded rock. Because it was of no use to the coal companies and it was tossed onto a pile of unusable rock. They can be found by collectors. The shale forms when fern leaves fall to the ground and are quickly covered by sediment. Because of the low level of oxygen the leaves are preserved as impressions.
This Pennsylvania Fossil Fern Leaf Alethopteris block displays beautifully. The white fern impressions are set off nicely from the black shale. This board is 11 1/2 inches wide by 17 inches long.
