Marine Vertebrate Fossils

There are many types of vertebrate marine fossils that can be found. These creatures inhabited saltwater environments and included turtles and other marine reptiles, sharks, and fish. As with most fossils only the hard parts fossilize. Often the only parts left are teeth. Mosasaurs, Ichthyosaurs, and other marine reptiles did have bones and can be found as fossils. Generally, sharks, having cartilage do not fossilize. Kansas, Northern Africa, and England are hotbeds of marine Vertebrates.  Teeth are generally the most common Marine Vertebrate fossil types found. Our selection is updated frequently with new specimens, so be sure to check back often for new items.
